VICTORIA BLAU, BIOGRAPHY
Victoria Blau earned her Masters degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Since 1987, Victoria has worked for the prestigious New York based architecture firms of Gwathmey, Siegel Architects & Associates, Spector Group, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and Bentel & Bentel. Her experience ranges from projects such as numerous private residences throughout the United States; an urban planning schematic design for the city of Wuhan, China; corporate headquarters for Universal Studios Inc. in Los Angeles and Snapple, Olympus and Sony in New York; Citibank, national and international locations; designed the original ‘future’ Citibank kiosk/space for on-line banking; national and international design competitions.
Victoria has also been developing her private practice since 2002, designing and building a number of residential projects throughout Manhattan and the New York Metropolitan area. For many of these residences, she has overseen both the construction as well as the interior design phases, designing a complete line of furniture for a number of residences. Her academic and professional work and projects have been exhibited and published in multiple trade journals, architectural monographs, magazines, school reviews, and university exhibitions throughout the world, including an international exhibition in Tokyo, Japan.
From an early age, Victoria knew that she wanted to study and practice architecture and design. During her high school years, she began working at an architecture firm and attended summer classes at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design where she took part in their Career Discovery program, studying Architecture. From there, she went on to attend Columbia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture, concentrated in Art History, and was awarded by the dean, 1989-1992, for a high degree in academic excellence.
She was the Expert Architect and Director of Development for iRenovate.com, an online architectural site geared toward the Residential Real Estate market. In that capacity, she joint ventured with Yahoo!’s Buzz marketing group to renovate a Brownstone in Harlem for a non-profit technology center. As Project Architect for Gwathmey Siegel, she was involved with the design and development of an office building for Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Ms. Blau’s education is as complete as her portfolio, receiving her Bachelor of Arts at Columbia University, her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a second Master’s degree in Real Estate Development at Columbia University.
